Mr. Slick lost this debate. The root of the disagreement is what constitutes authority; Catholics believe both Scripture and Church Tradition (Councils+continuing apostolic word of the Pope) are authoritative while Protestants confess 'sola scriptura'.

As long as this wasn't clearly debated (which it wasn't) Dr. Sungenis provided strong and convincing replies.

Dr. Sungenis wanted to calmly discuss the 'proof' texts from scripture that Mr. Slick mentioned, but when cornered by the calm and informed replies by Dr. Sungenis, Mr. Slick just moved on to another attack point instead of completing the discussion.

Perhaps a more fruitful topic would be of the disagreements between scripture and Roman tradition, and/or the disagreements between Roman tradition itself. But this may be beyond what Mr. Slick can provide.

Yes, Matt Slick got owned in this radio discussion, he was on the defensive most of the time...

I'm looking forward to a more formal debate between this two gentlemen because the discussion on each subject went on too quickly due to time constraints...

This was definitely a catholic victory. It's not that Matt wasn't prepared, or "caught off guard" so much as it was that Sola Scriptura simply isn't tenable.

Mr. Slick definitely needs to brush up on his deductive reasoning skills.
